There’s something undeniably special about the first bite of a hot lobster roll by the water—and no place captures that magic quite like Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough in Noank, Connecticut. On May 2, 2025, Abbott’s officially opened its doors for the 78th season, and I was thrilled to be there to document the excitement and energy of opening day.
🎉 A Beloved Tradition: The First Customer Race

Abbott’s opening day is more than just the start of lobster season—it’s a community tradition. Each year, eager fans line up early for the chance to be the first customer and receive the coveted “First Customer of the Year” t-shirt. This year, Abbott’s added a heartwarming twist by awarding two shirts to the first couple in line, celebrating their shared enthusiasm for this cherished tradition.
📸 Capturing the Moments

As a local influencer and content creator, I had the pleasure of capturing the day’s vibrant atmosphere. From the joyful anticipation of the crowd to the mouthwatering dishes being served, every moment was a testament to Abbott’s enduring appeal. The staff’s warmth and the patrons’ smiles made for a delightful experience, both in person and through the lens.
🌊 A Coastal Culinary Gem

Abbott’s isn’t just about lobster rolls (though they are legendary). Their menu boasts a variety of seafood delights, including steamers, stuffed clams, and their unique “Noank-style” clam chowder. The picturesque setting along the Mystic River enhances the dining experience, offering stunning views that complement the delicious fare.
